Art And Politics Meet: Nigerian Students Compete to Paint Their Dream Society

Is art finally beginning to get the recognition it deserves in Nigeria? Today, the Fobally Art World Africa Foundation Launched an Art Competition for Lagos State Secondary Schools and National Undergraduates.

The art Competition themed “Paint Your Aspired Lagos” for secondary school students and “Paint Your Aspired Nation” for University undergraduates gives room for youths to express their ideas of what their Nation should be like through various forms of art.

This competition is promising and can qualify as political participation since secondary school students are not yet eligible to vote. As competitions like this are not very common in Nigeria, will this competition art finally begin to gain the recognition it deserves?
